Duterte, China Hipersonic H-6K Aircraft Can Reach Philippines In Just Minutes,
MANILA, – The Philippine government is reluctant to comment on the landing of several Chinese hypersonic aircraft, including H-6K, in the South China Sea region. Regarding Beijing’s maneuver, President Duterte said Beijing’s hypersonic aircraft could reach Manila in seven minutes.
“And with their hypersonic aircraft, they can reach Manila in 7 to 10 minutes,” said Duterte.
The Philippine president affirmed his administration’s stance of opening a bid for joint exploration and development in the waters of the South China Sea believed to be rich in oil and natural gas.
“You know they have hypersonic aircraft, not placed in the Spratlys but near the Chinese province that faces the Spratlys,” Duterte said in a speech last weekend, quoted by Reuters on Monday (21/05/2018).
Beijing Air Force itself has admitted some hypersonic aircraft like the H-6K have landed and took off from the islands and coral reefs in the South China Sea as part of last week’s exercise.
“A division of the PLAAF recently deployed several hypersonic aircraft like the H-6K to conduct take-off and landing training on the islands and coral reefs of the South China Sea to improve our ability to reach all areas, the PLAAF said in a statement.
However, the PLAAF keeps the landing location of the Chinese hypersonic aircraft.
